Nana’s Rooted

If I could give Nana’s more than 5 stars I would! This gem is owned by a beautiful hardworking mother who pours herself into her craft. She’s not only a talented chef but a vibrant force in the community — showing up، giving back، & spreading light wherever she goes. I’ve been coming to Nana since she was doing her pop up markets. Since then her food has only elevated & left me in awe. I’ve catered her for every special event I’ve hosted & let me tell you… more than half of the people were not vegan & they left no crumbs! If you’re looking for a spot to grab vegan nourishment that is of quality & fulfillment head on over. I would recommend something specific but everything will wow you here!

On Saturday، May 10، 2025، I made my way on East Broadway Avenue to “Nana’s Rooted” food truck، where the Dominican Chef، Anisa، did not disappoint. I enjoyed the ‘special of the day’ black bean burger with yucca fries and a fresh salad. My go to smoothie is typically an ‘ island boy’، but decided on the pineapple/ginger smoothie with sea moss. The special of the day was incredibly filling and delicious The smoothie was delivered artistically. (Not long ago، I invited a friend of mine to enjoy a meal at Nana‘s. When we were served by Anisa herself، my friend remarked: “Darling، we are having Art for dinner.”) Many chefs are considered to be artists in their own right. However، very few are as passionate in their craft of creating a clean، plant-based dining experience، as Chef Anisa of “Nana’s” on East Broadway Avenue.

Let me say that am not vegan but am thinking of switching. I had the tuna carrot sandwich on turmeric، pepper sour dough bread! Yeah all that. I can only say it touched my soul! The flavors were on point! I am definitely hooked!

Today’s special، 09/10/2024. Black bean walnut and jackfruit taquitos w/ salad and brown rice on the side. So glad this place exists. As you can see the food was so delicious that it disappeared. Hope you don’t have nut allergies because that cheeze sauce and avocado crema mixed with that corn and seasoning Chef puts on are INCREDIBLE. Looking forward to trying the other specials. If you have a big appetite like me order the LARGE serving. You won’t regret it.
