Privacy Policy

When you create an account, we collect information such as your first and last name, email address, phone number, and profile photo. We publicly display your name and any information you choose to add to your profile, like your photo. We use this information to secure your account, personalize your experience, and make more relevant recommendations. You can update most of this information at any time from your account settings.

If you create both a consumer account and a business account, we may associate the two so you get a consistent experience across the Service — for example, so a business owner who also writes reviews sees one unified account.

If you add or claim a business listing, we collect and publicly display information about that business, such as its name, address, hours, phone number, website, category, services, and photos. If you represent the business, we may also collect verification details (like proof you're authorized to manage the listing) so we can confirm the claim.

Your contributions to the Service — reviews, star ratings, photos, reactions to other reviews, and votes on whether you'd recommend a business — are intended for public display and are visible to anyone browsing the Service, together with your display name and profile photo. When you save a business to your favorites, that list is tied to your account but is not shown publicly.

You can limit the visibility of some public content, or remove it entirely, through your account settings.

When you sign up for an account, contact a business, or use messaging features, you may receive communications from us, from businesses, and from other users. For example, if you request a quote, send a message to a business, or submit a contact form, we — and the business you're contacting — may reach you by email, SMS, or in-app message using the contact details you provide. We may also share status updates with a business about a request you sent them, such as whether you responded to their reply. You can manage marketing preferences through your account settings, but you can't opt out of administrative, transactional, or legal messages related to your account.

We may store the content of messages and communications you send through the Service in order to deliver them, let you manage them, and — where necessary — review them in connection with an investigation into misuse of the Service (for example, spam or requests to manipulate reviews for compensation).

If you subscribe to a paid business plan, we collect your name, contact details, and billing information needed to process the transaction; payment card details are handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe, and are not stored on our servers. If you request a quote or submit an inquiry to a business through the Service, we collect the details of that request (such as your name, phone number, email, and the nature of your request) in order to route it to the business and let you track its status.

You may choose to let us collect precise geolocation — for example, so we can show you businesses near your current location. If you grant location permission through your browser or device, we use it to personalize search results and map results. You can withdraw this permission at any time through your browser or device settings. You may also choose to include other sensitive information in content you post, such as in a review; you can remove that content through your account settings.

We collect and store information about your use of the Service, such as your searches, the pages and listings you view, the date and time of visits, and any transactions or requests you make. We use this activity to personalize the Service — for example, to suggest a default location or more relevant search results.

We collect information your browser or device provides, such as browser type and language, device type, IP address, approximate location derived from your IP address, and the pages that referred you to the Service. If you use the Service across multiple devices, this information may be combined so your experience is consistent across all of them.

We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies (like local storage) to operate the Service, keep you signed in, remember preferences such as a saved location, understand usage, and measure performance. We use the following categories:

• Essential. Required for the Service to function, such as keeping you signed in and remembering your privacy choices.
• Functional. Remember preferences, like a saved city or search filters.
• Analytics. Help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it.

We do not control cookies set by third-party platforms you may reach through the Service (for example, an embedded map). Those parties' use of cookies is governed by their own privacy policies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, on your first visit, through the cookie banner; blocking essential cookies may affect features like staying signed in.

If you sign in using a third-party account, we receive basic profile information — such as your name, email, and avatar — from that provider.

In some cases we collect information on behalf of a business — for example, when you request a quote, we collect your contact details in order to pass the request to that business. We do not use information collected in this role for purposes beyond fulfilling your request, unless otherwise described in this policy or at your direction.

Vendors who support the Service — such as our hosting and database provider, payment processor, mapping provider, and email delivery service — may share certain information with us, like delivery status or fraud-prevention signals, in the course of providing their services.

We may share information with any subsidiaries or other entities under common control with us, who are required to handle it consistent with this policy. If Local Florida is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same commitments described here.

Businesses can see your public activity — reviews, ratings, photos, and votes — the same as any other visitor. If you contact a business directly (a message, quote request, or call placed through the Service), we share the information necessary to fulfill that request, such as your name and contact details. We may also share non-identifiable or aggregated data with businesses, such as how many people viewed their listing.

We share information with third-party service providers so they can perform services on our behalf — for example, processing payments, hosting our infrastructure, delivering emails, and displaying maps. These providers are contractually required to use your information only to provide services to us, consistent with this policy.

The Service may link to third-party sites, such as a business's own website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We don't share your personal information with third-party platforms beyond what's described in this policy, unless you direct us to — for example, by choosing to sign in through a third-party provider.

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it's reasonably necessary to comply with a legal process (such as a subpoena or court order), investigate or prevent wrongdoing on the Service, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Local Florida, our users, or the public. If you report content to us, we may share the substance of your report with the person who posted it so they have an opportunity to respond.
