We visited Palace Pub and Wine Bar last night to meet friends. We all enjoy good music، but the volume was so loud that we had to talk over it the entire time. We even asked if it could be turned down a bit (which made us feel a little old saying it 😅)، but when you can’t have a normal conversation without raising your voice، it becomes more distracting than enjoyable. Background music is great — this just felt overwhelming. We came after dinner and participated in their Saturday wine tasting. Unfortunately، most of the wines we sampled were just okay — nothing particularly memorable، especially considering they appeared to be curated selections. Service was fine overall، but we did feel a bit uncomfortable toward the end of our visit. We were asked three or four times if we were “good،” which came across more as a prompt to either order more or wrap things up. We had ordered a bottle of wine، shared a tasting، and our friend had a couple of glasses، so it felt a bit unnecessary. One thing that stood out: if you select a bottle from their retail section to drink there، there’s a $15 corkage fee. That felt a bit off-putting، especially when you’re already sitting in the space and supporting the business. Overall، it just wasn’t the experience we were hoping for. Between the noise level، average wine tasting، and that slightly uncomfortable service interaction، it’s not somewhere we’d likely return to.
