The Park at Southwood

This place is truly a breath of fresh air! Beautifully landscaped، great area، the office staff is so welcoming and nice and maintenance is on top of their game! Shout out to Tabitha and JP! Not to mention how safe I feel here…as a single gal that’s always something I worry about but not here. Hardly any noise from your neighbors at all and same with dogs. I’m right on the main “road” which I was honestly nervous about but hardly any noise…Of course it’s not perfect every place has its issues but what complex doesn’t? And after 8 months I’m already ready to renew. 😎 So glad I found this place

I stayed at the park at south wood for 2 years. The moment I came into this apartment the people in the leasing office never put on a friendly manner. They will treat you as if you are staying there for free. There was an assistant manager earlier who was very rude and I had problems with him when he misplaced my payment from the bank and didn't even think it was his problem until I was asking him whether it was my problem or the bank's. This community does not have any fun activities for kids nor it had a playground but it had a dog park ، funny. A few months before I moved out they created a small playground for kids fortunately. Then came the time when I was moving out. Though we had a cheeky 5 yr old we kept the apartment in a good shape and also had nice plants in our patio thanks to my wife. I seldom talk to the leasing office members and I found it really hard to talk to the property manager as she had a few persons as assistants who never let me through to her. But when moving out I was able to talk to the property manger and I told her we have kept the apartment in a good shape and I would like to know how much I will be charged when I move out. She was so nice while talking me and she said I will be charged only 120$ which I felt is fine but seldom did I know she had other plans in her mind. The property manger knew that I was moving to a different state which makes it a better opportunity to usurp the whole security deposit. She finally charged me 120$ for cleaning 60$ for carpet wash and 150$ for acid cleaning of one of the bathrooms. I called her multiple times but her assistants would not let me through and before they forwarded the call they will ask what is this regarding and which apt just to know if it is me calling. After several attempts I got through to her and she acted as if nothing has happened. I talked for several minutes and I thought I had convinced her about the state of the apartment and she convinced me that she will herself look into the matter. But next day I get a mail from one of her assistants that the acid cleaning could not be taken off from the charges. You can understand my feeling when such people have no qualms in taking away the hard earned money without a remorse. When I had moved in I had paid some good amount for painting and what not which I have not even kept an account of. But I didn't think they would just take away all the security deposit even after I spend 2 years with this community. I would rather suggest eagles landing by arbor properties. You will enjoy your time in this beautiful community and the nice staff. You will enjoy the Halloween and the free breakfast and free pizzas and scavenger hunt for kids. Think twice before ending up in this community. Thumbs down! P.S: Attached the pictures of the 2 bathrooms. You should also know that this is not a new community and their bathrooms were not in optimum shape when I had got it.

I can’t wait until my lease is up. MAA Southwood previously known as the Verandas is so much better and the office staff is so friendly. The Park is the complete opposite. My biggest regret is living here.

My experience has been negatively impacted by the behavior of Tabatha. She often comes across as unprofessional and inconsiderate in her communication. I have also noticed instances of biased treatment، which does not create a welcoming environment. On top of that، some charges seemed unclear or not well explained، which raised concerns about transparency. These issues have made interactions feel uncomfortable and have lowered my confidence in the company’s culture.

Check in was slow and tedious، I asked for a ground floor apartment thinking there would be no steps involved however، this complex’s ground floor apartments are actually down stairs (17 to be exact) so this is not what I expected or wanted but oh well I’m stuck. Another issue I have is I originally signed up and paid for the apartment only to find out I needed to cancel a couple of days later when the deal on the house I was selling fell through، when I called to get my $$$ refunded I was told it could take 4-6 weeks for that to happen، about a week later I got another contract on my house called the apartment back and was told they couldn’t transfer my original deposit and rent etc to this new application and would have to pay all of this $$$ over again. What a pain.
